"Suppose that on 9-11 the planes had bombed the White House ... suppose they'd killed the president, established a military dictatorship, quickly killed thousands, tortured tens of thousands more, set up a major international terror centre that was carrying out assassinations, overthrowing governments all ove the place, installing other dictatorships, and drove the country into one of the worst depressions in it's history and had to call on the state to bail them out. Suppose that did happen? It did happen. On the first 9-11 in 1973.

“TODAY is a sad day, but at the same time not a sad day as Fidel’s legacy and spirit lives on,” Bolivia’s ambassador to Britain Roberto Calzadilla told the Adelante conference on Saturday.

While we mourn the loss of one of the 20th century’s greatest revolutionaries, it is important to keep close to heart the incredible achievements of Fidel Castro, the revolution that he led and the bright light that is Cuba today.

Because the enemies of Cuba and its socialist system have wasted no time in going on the offensive, denigrating the man and the revolution.

Filmed in Glasgow, Scotland on 21st September 2016. A report back from Kenny Coyle from his experiences in Socialist Vietnam. Kenny talks us through the history of this region, it's experiences of Western Imperialism and then in the aftermath it's attempts to build & develop an economy and society which works for all.
What of Vietnam today, and where is it in terms of a Vietnamese road to socialism? Do the Western powers still seek to intervene in this sovereign nation's affairs, particularly as it builds an alternative economic and political model?

IRELAND, and the north of Ireland in particular, has lost one of its stalwart communists and trade unionists with the sudden and untimely death of Joe Law on September 28, one month before his 70th birthday.

Joe came from Belfast’s radical Protestant tradition and fought against the sectarian state for workers’ unity and for socialism.
